Question: What is the best way to ride downtown? The American River Trail has a branch that takes you downtown but someone told me it was pretty sketchy (homeless people etc...). Is that true? Is it dangerous to ride it during the daylight?

I would like to extend my ride a bit and thought doing a tour of downtown would be nice.

cheers

That puts you out onto 16th street, it is the street that turns into Highway 160 leaving downtown.

It is a little sketch but not bad during the day. Not great riding though because you are in downtown and have all the lights.

To extend you could always hit the South Canal trail that ties in around the Fish Hatchery. Not anything fun to look at but at least you are not riding with cars. I think this trial goes south about 20 miles. Another great option is doing some of the hills in Folsom/EDH.

Nice ride you guys !!!

Let's get Sunday am RR going, especially away from the Springtime busy bike trail. We can hit so many kill rides with limited car traffic (with an 8 am start).

Sunday FBW Disco rides are the essence of maintenance. This weekend will be Cool on Sunday am.

Let's get something new and exciting going for May 9 (Mom's day- she'll understand).

No go for Sunday (happy wife -> happy life). I think we should organize a group ride for the 16th that hooks up with the Tour de California. I am not familiar with all the route options but open to suggestions.

cheers

Awesome TOC idea. Auburn Canyon will be a great view point.

Sunday May 9, 2010 ~ manana, Doctor, Matt A, Roth Rider ? Tecmo- 8-11:30 come on ? Alex, let's show Brandt what Mother's Day is really about.

*8:00 am Fish Hatchery it is (per the Doctor's request). Rolling down river to Disco.

Doctor, Matt A, and I. Sure it was cool... hanging with a couple cool guys, just riding and chatting.

Next Sunday is the TOC. Could be a ride there (Auburn) or more likely is a drive to the confluence, watch the snake peleton ~ then drive to a rabid finish scene in Sac.
